Elon Musk shares everything through Twitter. This time, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO unveiled that for the upcoming elections in 2024 he would support Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis for president.
Ron DeSantis, who is a close friend of the USA’s ex-president Donald Trump still has not opened up to officially say that he will be running for president. However, he is widely recognized as the most suitable Republican candidate to have the honor.
Musk makes this confession as a reply to one user that is basically a fan page for his car brand Tesla. The user is Tesla Owners Silicon Valley, and its description states that it follows Tesla owners in the area.
Elon initially started the conversation by replying to a tweet from The Texan. They shared information about the Mayla Flores Republican victory in the election for Texas’s 34th Congressional District, which according to them is a clear sign for the start of the Democrats.
Elon Musk Opens Up That He Will Support Ron DeSantis For President
“I voted for Mayra Flores – first time I ever voted Republican.” – The Tesla CEO, Elon Musk tweets in a ‘confession’ tweet as a response to The Texan.
Musk is a Texan himself. He moved to Texas back in 2020. Of course, with him, he took the Tesla headquarters as well.
The Texan saw this as a chance to strike a question at the billionaire. And they were not to let go of this chance. They directly asked if he would vote Republican for the presidential elections, to which he did not give a specific answer, but replied ‘TBD’.
He then got the question of who he is most likely to give his vote for, ‘What are you leaning towards?’.
‘DeSantis’ – the billionaire is short and precise.
Is Elon aware of the candidates for the presidential elections beforehand? He sure does his research timely. As well, he is not a person that keeps away from politics completely. Musk is donating constantly to both parties. This, according to him is a way to support candidates with centrist views.
“I’m thinking of creating a “Super Moderate Super PAC” that supports candidates with centrist views from all parties.” – the billionaire says.
DeSantis on the other hand, at a press conference on the 15th of June, did not reveal his plans. However, he greeted Elon’s support.
“I’m focused on 2022, but with Elon Musk what I would say is, you know, I welcome support from African-Americans. What can I say?” – DeSantis says jokingly, taking into consideration that Elon is originally from South Africa.
In previous tweets, Musk reveals that he voted democrats previously, and revealed that it is about to change.
We will see what comes out of it. In any case, smart of him to fund both parties. This way, he is in a position regardless of who wins.
