Jeff ‘El Jefe’ Molina is quite new in the UFC scene. He is in the promotion since 2021 and has only three fights until now. However, he has a professional record of 11-2-0. He is unbeaten since 2018 and is a promising flyweight in UFC.
Jeff Molina won his most recent bout against Zhalgas Zhumagulov at the UFC fight night 207 this past Saturday via decision after the third round.
Fans Criticize Jeff Molina’s UFC Pride Month Shorts – He Finds It Ridiculous
Even though the fighter shows astonishing potential and great skills, the one thing that he gets criticized mostly is his use of pride month wear.
June is widely known as a pride month, in connection to the LGBTQ community, so the UFC, like every big corporation is introducing some sort of support for the gay community by allowing the fighters to choose if they will use shorts and gloves that are in the colors of the rainbow.
To be honest, there are not many fighters that choose to do so, however, Jeff Molina is one of the few.
Molina shows excitement to wear the gear since last Wednesday, June 1, when he shares a tweet on this matter.
“Pretty sick the UFC is letting us rep for pride month!! Get your pride gear @ufcstore!” – Jeff says.
People are considering MMA as a ‘testosterone sport’ and as such the homophobia is evident by all means necessary. There are not many fighters that show support, or interest in marking this pride month, so to see a pioneering act like this by some of the fighters is something that the wider non-MMA public welcomes.
Immediately after the tweets, and after Molina rocking the pride gear, rumors start about the sexual orientation of the fighter. Is he gay? Or he just supports the LGBTQ community?
Following up on his first tweet, after getting numerous re-tweets and messages Moline shares another tweet on the matter.
“To all the dudes sliding in my DM’s I’m a straight guy but pshhh that’s flattering! For all the homophobic dudes upset by me rapping pride month on my fight kit y’all some fruit cups.” – the Flyweight says.
Nevertheless, Jeff has something to say to the people criticizing him on this move as well.
“Dude, it’s fucking ridiculous. Man, who would have thunk that in 2022 people are still, who the fuck cares, bro? Like honestly, it’s not even about being an ally. I’m not saying I’m not, but it’s like just be a fucking decent person. Like just be a decent human being.”
He adds that judging people by their sexual orientation, nationality, or religion is something that is out-of-date. This is the era of tolerance, love, and support.
