Right now, an injury bug is taking major bites out of all rosters. The AEW World Champion CM Punk has a broken foot, Cody Rhodes just wrestled in Hell in A Cell with a torn pec, and those are just the major ones. Two more big stars in AEW are injured, those being Bryan Danielson & Adam Cole.
Bryan Danielson Is Out Of Action For 1-2 Weeks
Bryan Danielson in particular is an unclear case. He recently missed a meet and greet earlier this week due to being unable to fly. This would indicate that he suffered a concussion, likely during the insanity that was Anarchy In The Arena at Double or Nothing 2022.
The good news is, a report from Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio would indicate that Danielson is expected back in the ring within the next two weeks. This means that Danielson should be in action for Forbidden Door later this month. It does mean that he will not be in the Battle Royale on Wednesday however, meaning the rematch of Moxley & Danielson will not be happening in the main event of the show – like some fans had initially hoped.
There have been a lot of hopes that we will see Bryan Danielson vs. Kazuchika Okada at Forbidden Door. With those two being among the best wrestlers in the world today, it would be a match that brings in PPV buys – and would leave the sold out crowd in the arena with a dream match to look back on.
Adam Cole Being Kept Out Of Action Until Forbidden Door
Meanwhile, Adam Cole was also reported as being injured following his match with Samoa Joe at Double or Nothing 2022. This was initially reported as a minor shoulder injury, and to ensure he is healthy for Forbidden Door – Cole will be not wrestling between now and then. Cole was on commentary for AEW Rampage on Friday, which could be a role for him over the next month.
Fans have been hoping to see The Undisputed Elite vs. BULLET CLUB at the event, with Cole & Jay White leading their groups into a massive ten man tag team match. Another potential match would be against Los Ingobernables De Japon, who are back to full power with SANADA returning from injury.
