Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly hired Oscar-nominated director of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Liz Garbus to oversee their Netflix docuseries which is really just Reality TV.
Harry And Meghan Hire Oscar-Nominated Director Liz Garbus For Their Netflix Docuseries
The docuseries promises to give an intimate insight into the lives of the couple behind the scenes. And after having left the Royal family in 2020, there is an appetite to see how the couple’s dynamics and daily lives have changed.
And in order to do that justice, Liz has been given the go ahead. After all, she does have some serious pedigree behind her name. In 1999, Liz was nominated for an Oscar as per her documentary ‘The Farm: Angola, USA.’
This was then followed up by another Oscar nomination in 2016 for her documentary, ‘What Happened, Miss Simone?” And by the looks of it, Liz has already been taking some steps.
In the picture here, we can see Harry and Meghan holding hands during a day out in New York City. In the background, there is a cameraman who is recording some footage, who is alleged to be one of Liz’s cameramen. And this appears to have been only the first of many other instances.
Reports indicate that Liz’s team had also managed to get in cameras, while Harry and Meghan made an appearance by meeting the Deputy Chief of the UN in New York.
And with so many opportunities to document the couple, the documentary has to deliver. The response on social media towards Liz’s appointment was brutal, though.
A certain subset of people could not believe that Liz would decide to do this after having made Oscar-nominated projects. And in the process of doing so, the comments were harsh indeed.
One person wrote: “Imagine going from being an Oscar nominated director to filming a reality tv series for the second row ex-royals. That is some come down.”
Time will tell if Liz can manage to make this project a success or if it will backfire. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
