For the first time since she was born, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s daughter, Lilibet visited the UK to celebrate with Queen Elizabeth during the Platinum Jubilee. The now one-year-old daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was born in California and named Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor after the Queen’s nickname, Lilibet and also after Harry’s mother, Diana.
The Queen Said She Had “No Chance” To Take Pictures With Lilibet
The Sussexes are said to still have a warm relationship with the Queen even after their decision to step away from the Royal family. Hence it is not surprising that they would request a private picture session for their daughter which they did when Lilibet was taken to meet the Queen on Thursday at Windsor Castle; however, the Queen’s response was shocking.
Queen Elizabeth’s Alleged Two-word Response to The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex’s Photo Request
It is reported that Harry and Meghan asked the Queen if their personal photographer could take some pictures of Lilibet with her Great-grandmother to capture their first meeting but the Queen said “no chance.” Reports then claim that this was as a result of fears that the Duke and Duchess would leak the pictures to US television networks.
It was also revealed by another trusted source that Prince Harry and Meghan did not get to make a request to the Queen as “they just enjoyed a private and intimate visit with the Queen” and the Queen wasn’t feeling too well. When the New York Post reached out to the Queen’s secretary for communication on comments about the varying reports, they declined making any comment.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex along with their three-year-old son, Archie celebrated Lilibet’s first birthday while they were in the UK for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. There was a small gathering at the Frogmore Cottage. Speaking of the event, a source said although there was no formal entertainment, it was all one would expect of a child’s birthday.
Also adding that, “the idea was for it to be very relaxed and casual with people free to pop in and out as they wished” and “it was a nice opportunity for the other royal children to meet Lilibet for the first time.”
