The pro wrestling world has been buzzing and waiting for confirmation that Sasha Banks has been released by the WWE as per early reports on June 16.
It’s been expected since she and Naomi walked out of WWE Raw on May 16 after refusing to wrestle their scheduled match.
They were supposed to take part in a six pack challenge with Naomi winning, but they stood their ground and reportedly defended the nearly non-existent women’s tag team division.
They’ve been suspended without pay since, so when a report of their release came out, there seems to be every reason to believe it.
But since it’s currently more in the rumor category than not, everyone’s waiting for the official word from the WWE.
But to be fair, the WWE hasn’t announced several of their releases lately.
I'm hearing Sasha Banks has been released. I don't know if it's he requested it or if it was on WWE's end

Cut loose?
@TheRajGiri first reported Banks being released:
“I’m hearing Sasha Banks has been released. I don’t know if it’s he requested it or if it was on WWE’s end”
Raj has taken some heat for posting the news without verification, but he says he’s confident in it, so the only thing we can do is wait
Sean Ross Sapp with Fightful.com has been working on finding out if it’s true, and he retweeted Raj and responded:
“We’ve been unable to confirm the Sasha Banks news as of yet.
“She’s on the roster page, WWE reps haven’t confirmed, talent relations hasn’t issued anything to talent, and no internal memos have gone out yet.
“We’ll keep digging to get an answer. If it happened, it’s been quietly”

Interesting timing
Banks reportedly has 30 days left on her contract and she’d be able to casually walk into AEW as soon as it ended, so there’s thought that if she was released it was to lock her up in a 90 day non-compete clause.
If that’s the case, it’d seem the WWE would wait a couple of more weeks to keep her out of AEW longer, but they could just be looking to move beyond this.
As of now, it’s been reported that Naomi isn’t in danger of being released. That could change, but there have been reports that Banks is looked at as the instigator in this and Naomi had her back as a good friend.
There’s also the possibility that her husband, Jimmy Uso, and Roman Reigns may be working to help her, but that’s speculation at this point.
This will probably take several days to fully develop and for all the information to come out, and we’ll keep updating as needed.
