Adam Cole is undoubtedly one of the most polarising names in professional wrestling right now. It seems like people either love or hate him, but the reactions of live crowds are almost always positive. He’s someone who truly loves the business, and would reflect recently on just how emotional he was ahead of his final match in WWE as part of the NXT brand.
Adam Cole Cried Before Final Match In WWE NXT
During a recent appearance on The Kurt Angle Show, Adam Cole would have a chance to speak about his final match in NXT. He would wrestle Kyle O’Reilly in a Best Two Out Of Three Falls match, and would have the following to say about that match.
“I’m an emotional guy, and I don’t think I’ve ever said this, but I cried like a baby after that match. I’m sitting there, I’m watching this video package before the match, and its pictures of me and Kyle from 2009, and all this Ring of Honor stuff, and us wrestling each other in New Japan, and I know this is my last night at NXT… I was crying before I went out there.
Getting to do that with him, there’s no one I would’ve rather wrestled or been in there with than Kyle. Just because I got to close my Ring of Honor chapter with him in a lot of ways, I got to close my PWG chapter and then my “NXT” chapter with Kyle. So it was a very special night and a very emotional night for me.”
Finding His Place In AEW
Both Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly have since landed in AEW, where both have found success. Cole recently challenged for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Forbidden Door, while Kyle O’Reilly and longtime tag team partner Bobby Fish have been climbing the ranks in the AEW tag team division.
Right now, both Cole & O’Reilly are unfortunately on the injured list, just two names in the many who have found themselves hurt lately. Cole is out with a concussion following Forbidden Door, while the injury of O’Reilly has remained vague. Both are expected to return to the ring as soon as they are healthy.
