Nate Diaz is a UFC icon. He is in the promotion since the very beginning and he has fought many sounding names throughout his long career. We can safely say that he is a UFC celebrity. Even though he holds no titles, he is considered one of the toughest fighters that the promotion has had.
However, despite being in the promotion for so long, lately, he started bumping heads with UFC president Dana White. He complains about his pay, his opponents, and how the promotion treats him. He entered into direct conflict with Dana several times, and rumors started spreading. I mean, it is no secret that he wants out of the UFC promotion. He is vocal about it, but what are his plans after he gets out remains a mystery.
I’d Never Do A Goofy Boxing Match Against Jake Paul – Nate Diaz Denies Having Any Interest In Fighting The YouTuber
One of the most attention-gaining rumors was that he is preparing to fight the YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul. This gained some traction with Nate’s fans. They were ready to see him face off with the YouTuber.
However, now, we can say goodbye to these rumors. Seems like this was just an empty wish.
The Stockton native, Nate Diaz is officially set to leave the UFC after his following fight against Khamzat Chimaev. He is set to fight the Chechen-born undisputed warrior on the 10th of September at the UFC 279 main event.
Regardless of the outcome in September, Nate Diaz should have opened doors to continue his path in combat sports however he likes. And according to Dana White, fighting Jake Paul, or someone from that branch is the last thing he wants to do.
“I don’t know if Diaz will fight Paul.” – Dana White says for Yahoo Sports. “He said, ‘I would never do that.’ That’s what he said to me. He said, ‘That s**t’s goofy.’ I don’t know. That’s what he said to me.”
This might be true. There is still no official denial from Nate’s side until now. And when it comes to expressing himself and telling what he wants – Nate is not someone who is shy to say it. Recent months where he demands ‘release’ from the promotion are the best example of this.
It is true that the match-up with Khamzat Chimaev caused some backlash from the public, however, according to Dana White the matchup is something that must’ve happened in any case.
“We made it, and here we are.” – Dana White says about the match. “And it’s a good fight. It’s a fight people want to see. It’s a fight that people show interest in, so we’re going to do it.”
What do you think about the Jake Paul boxing match? Has Nate said what Dana White claims he said?
