Tom Lawlor got a chance to stretch his body yesterday when he was in the ring for a singles match with Kosei Fujita, but tonight he will test two men who are more seasoned in the ring. Lawlor will bring Royce Isaacs to the ring tonight as they take on YOSHI-HASHI & David Finlay. Lawlor is in the A-Block, while both YOSHI-HASHI & David Finlay are in the D-Block, so aside from an unexpected final – Lawlor won’t meet either in singles action this tournament.
David Finlay & YOSHI-HASHI Form Uneasy Alliance To Defeat Team Filthy
Lawlor was keen to start this match, squaring off with YOSHI-HASHI. However he first needed to pull off his jorts to reveal smaller jorts. Isaacs & Finlay tagged themself into the match, and Isaacs would chuck Finlay into the corner for a big lariat. Finlay would be able to nail the dropkick, before being sent to the apron and yanked to the floor by Lawlor.
Lawlor would tag into the match, and would stretch Finlay and YOSHI-HASHI, before almost being caught with a small package. Finlay would be shoved into a forearm smash, before he’d be whipped to the mat hard, right onto his shoulder. Finlay was struggling to find his feet, but was able to find the tag.
YOSHI-HASHI & Isaacs would trade strikes in the middle of the ring, before a basement dropkick to the knee. Fisherman Buster was set, but Isaacs fought free – before Finlay tagged himself into the match. Lawlor would apply a choke in the ropes, before Isaacs hit a German Suplex.
Finlay would weather the storm, and nail Trash Panda for the win. He was very aggressive tonight, which might be key for him to succeed in his first ever G1 Climax tournament. Finlay meets YOSHI-HASHI in singles action on August 14.
This Is Going To Be A Long Tour For TAKA Michinoku
Lance Archer & Bad Luck Fale are two reasons why the A-Block in the 2022 G1 Climax has been called ‘the big boy block’. They will clash on Wednesday, but tonight will clash in tag team action. Fale is bringing El Phantasmo who is reeling from a loss to Will Ospreay, and is evaluating how to tackle heavyweights. Meanwhile, Archer has TAKA Michinoku, who is still finding his footing after a KO punch from Juice Robinson yesterday.
Archer would march to the ring, and would toss TAKA around before they even started. It’s going to be a long tour for TAKA Michinoku. ELP would get chopped by Fale before this one began, before he’d look to lock up with Michinoku and have this one be an honest wrestling match.
Archer was frustrated, and Fale would meet him in the middle of the ring. Test of Strength would see Fale almost win out, before Archer & Fale would attack the non-legal entries in the match. Fale would gain the advantage first, allowing him to help ELP with Archer.
Back into the ring, ELP would get slammed down, before Archer looked to use Michinoku as a weapon. ELP would rake the back before grabbing what exists of Michinoku’s hair – and Fale would step on his back, with ELP on shoulders to add extra mass.
Archer would assist in helping Michinoku get back in control, before he’d brawl with Fale on the floor. ELP hit Michinoku with a Michinoku Driver, for a near fall. Sudden Death would land, and this one was over.
United Empire Show Eight Man Tag Dominance
United Empire got the G1 Climax off to a great start last night, with Aaron Henare & Will Ospreay each claiming their first two points – and Cobb having no shame in an incredible match against Kazuchika Okada. Tonight, with Great-O-Khan on hand as well – they will enter eight man tag team action, taking on House of Torture.
House of Torture shocked no one with a brawl before the bell, but Togo picked Cobb and that was such a mistake. He’d flee the ring, and let Yujiro take the ring alongside Ospreay to start the match. Cobra Twist was applied, and Togo helped… until Ospreay countered, and Cobb would help to torture Dick.
Great-O-Khan hit the ring with some Mongolian Chops, and SHO helped Yujiro set up the kick to the face. Some more strikes would follow, with SHO getting the tag and tasting the heavyweight power of O-Khan. Togo would help him beat down O-Khan, and SHO would get a one count before Ospreay blasts him in the head.
EVIL choked O-Khan with a shirt, before taking a snap suplex. Henare got the tag and threw his weight around, with some heavy blows in the corner to EVIL. Justice Knee was followed by the Samoan Drop, before looking to apply Ultima. EVIL broke free, and Togo helped trip him before a four on one attack.
EVIL distracted the referee, as Togo would look to use the wire for a choke. All hell broke loose with a flurry of strikes before Cobb would suplex both Togo & SHO. Togo was tossed into Ultima, and this one was over in a hurry.
