Over the past year, AEW fans have become fast fans of HOOK. The son of Taz was hyped up for months before his dominant debut, and has remained undefeated in his following nine matches. The likes of JD Drake, QT Marshall, Bear Bronson, Tony Nese, and NJPW LA dojo trainee The DKC would all fall to HOOK – and got him the attention of the leaders of one of the biggest factions in NJPW. Will Ospreay wants AEW to send HOOK to him.
Will Ospreay Wants Taz To Send HOOK To Japan With Him
While speaking with WrestleInn, Will Ospreay would discuss United Empire and said that they would only accept one man into the group at this time.
“I don’t want to use the word Elite, but I have a crew of just top level pro wrestlers. And I can’t think of anyone better to bring in right now – except maybe HOOK. That’s it. Taz and me got along good, and we’d be talking backstage. ‘Whens your boy coming over to Japan’ I asked him. HOOK’s face was a mixture of fear of coming over to Japan and having me look after him, with any of the night out stories you’ve Ospreay taking someone to Roponngi – they didn’t come back the same person. However they might have come back a better wrestler.”
It would not be hard to see Japanese fans connecting with the judo heavy style of HOOK, and he’d likely return with his striking skills taken to another level. HOOK is only 23 years old, and will have the chance to travel the world to learn different styles as time goes on. Learning under the likes of Ospreay, TJP & Jeff Cobb would only serve to help HOOK improve at a faster rate.
However, HOOK comes with the issue of being undefeated. AEW is really protecting HOOK, not even letting him wrestle on their flagship show until he’s improved in the ring beyond just being able to handle squash matches. The first time HOOK loses will be huge, and AEW can’t risk this happening outside of their programming.
