Tonight should be an action packed one with Drew McIntyre facing Sheamus for the right to face Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar at WWE Clash at the Castle. Roman Reigns is returning as well, and Liv Morgan kicks off her championship reign.
We’ll be back to kick WWE Smackdown Live Results into gear at the 8 p.m. EST start time.
Segment 1
Roman Reigns and the Bloodline came out to start the show, and while Reigns was halfway down the ramp, Theory appeared at the top of the ramp with the MITB briefcase.
A cash in was teased as we headed to commercial.
Segment 2
In the ring, Paul Heyman gave an impassioned speech about Reigns needing to be the ultimate beast slayer to beat Lesnar and hyped their SummerSlam match up until Theory came out and ran a lap around the ring with the MITB briefcase before heading to the back.
Segment 3
The Viking Raiders (Erik, Ivar) vs. Jinder Mahal and Shanky
This was a squash as Shanky was busy with the fans, and Mahal ate a double powerbomb for the Raiders to win.
The New Day came out and attacked the Viking Raiders, and Erik and Ivar mauled them in seconds.
Segment 4
Wilhelm Kaiser w/GUNTHER vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
With Happy Corbin doing as good or better job than Pat McAfee on the commentary team, this has all kinds of interesting angles going.
GUNTHER said his challengers have to prove themselves, so Nakamura challenged Kaiser. After an initial flurry, Nakamura got caught in a stare down with GUNTHER and Kaiser dropkicked him to the floor as we headed to commercial.
Segment 5
Nakamura hit a kinsasha for the win, and GUNTHER punished Wilhelm with a series of chops.
Segment 6
Liv Morgan celebrated her title win, and in a replay of Raw, Natalya came out and told her she only won because she injured Rousey and she enjoyed doing it.
Rousey came out, and Natalya attacked her from behind and Morgan sent Natalya to the floor.
Segment 7
Ronda Rousey vs. Natalya
This was another quick one sided match as Rousey focused on Natalya’s left leg and won with an ankle lock.
Segment 8
Max Dupri presided over Maximum Male Models Tennis Collection with ma.çé and mån.sôör.
Segment 9
Aliyah and Lacey Evans vs. Shayna Baszler and Shotzi
Evans turned heel during her entrance and berated the fans for a lackadaisical response after two attempts and called them disgusting.
Since she was cheered last week, we think there was some PA trickery to get this started.
Evans then decked Aliyah with a Woman’s Right and left, so there was no match.
Segment 10
Championship Contenders Match – The Usos (Jimmy, Jey) vs. Los Lotharios (Angel, Humberto)
This was another quick one that started during the commercial break, and the Usos won after hitting a assisted cutter on Humberto for the win.
Segment 11
Drew McIntyre vs. Butch w/Sheamus, Ridge Holland
Sheamus backed out of the scheduled match claiming to have Covid, so butch took his place for a four minute match before eating a Claymore. Guess this was done due to time management issues?
Afterwards, Drew swiped at Sheamus with his sword and cut the top rope and fire erupted from the ring posts.
This was… the show was good until after the Nakamura and Wilhelm match, and then it turned into a squash fest with what seems like bad time management that made the final hour feel off and disjointed at best.
Don’t even get us started on the fire in the ring posts or cutting the ropes. It came across more like a forced dream type of situation. Maybe this was Smackdown’s Robocop moment?
