Right now, fans are waiting for many wrestlers to return to the ring following injuries. At the top of this list is former WWE Champion Big E. Big E suffered a broken neck during a suplex gone wrong that saw him land directly on top of his head. He’s been keeping fans in the loop with his recovery, having recently thrown his neck brace into the trash. However, his latest update contains both good and bad news.
Big E Feels Great, But His C1 Isn’t Forming Bone
Taking to Twitter, Big E would issue the following update on the status of his neck.
“Update! My C1 isn’t ossifying (forming bone) quite yet. The current plan is to get more scans at the one year mark & see how it’s progressing. The great news is I feel tremendous & surgery is off the table.”
The fact that Big E will be able to live a normal life following this injury is absolutely incredible news. Neck injuries are terrifying, and there’s always a risk of paralysis involved. However, for those waiting for him back in the ring – the new earliest date is March 2023.
Big E is going to be out for the rest of the year, and depending on how those scans go – could be done in the ring in general. WWE are good at finding other roles to fit talent following serious injuries, as seen with Corey Graves on commentary, and both Tyson Kidd & Jason Jordan as backstage producers.
With the charisma Big E has, he would be able to fill just about any role in WWE – from on-screen official to commentator, to even helping to coach talent in the WWE PC. Hopefully in a year, we will see him back into the ring – but his health comes before our need for entertainment. No one wants to see someone injured risk their wellbeing in a match.
