Yellowstone actress Q’orianka Kilcher was charged with insurance fraud as she collected two years’ worth of disability while working. The California Department of Insurance had been investigating Kilcher for a while as she was able to finesse over $96,000 in benefits between 2019 and 2021.

In 2018, Kilcher filed for benefits after receiving a neck and shoulder injury while filming Dora and the Lost City of Gold. She received treatment for the injury that year before stopping. Kilcher would file again claiming the neck pain was making it difficult to work. When she returned in 2019, it fell within the time she was filming for Yellowstone.
According to the California Department of Insurance, the actress did her treatment a couple of times before stopping entirely. The CDI also claims that Q’orianka Kilcher had been working before she returned to her doctor with complaints of pain. Her benefits kicked in five days after she finished up Yellowstone.
In all, she received $96,838 in disability from the state of California up until September 2021. Kilcher turned herself in back in May 2022 and has been charged with two counts of workers’ compensation insurance fraud. The offense is a felony charge in the Golden State.
Q’orianka Kilcher got her start in film with 2000’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas. She became noticed five years later as Pocahontas in the 2005 film The New World.
Other filming opportunities followed including appearing on Sons of Anarchy as well as personal favorites The Killing, Longmire, and Drunk History throughout the 2010s. As for the film she was injured in—Dora and the Lost City of Gold—it was a box office success for Nickelodeon Movies and Paramount.
