CM Punk & Jon Moxley are unable to keep their hands off each other, forcing AEW to push their unification title match to tonight. While CM Punk was mending a broken foot, Jon Moxley was holding down the fort as Interim AEW Champion, because Punk refused to vacate. Tonight, we will end this night with just one AEW Champion, and they can hold a belt that actually means something. With All Out looming however, whoever wins won’t have long before their next big defence – meaning a quick victory could be vital tonight.
The Ohio crowd was seemingly 100% behind Jon Moxley, but he doesn’t care about things like hometown advantage. He’s just here to kick ass, and specifically the ass of someone who hasn’t wrestled since the Dynamite after AEW Double Or Nothing 2022. Meanwhile, Moxley has been tearing it up against the likes of Chris Jericho, Konosuke Takeshita, & Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Jon Moxley Runs CM Punk Out Of The Arena
As the bell rang, we’d get duelling chants for both men – thrilled to see them lock up. Moxley drove Punk into the corner, and would hit some heavy elbow strikes, asking for Punk to bring the aggression. Punk obliged, before hitting a head kick and falling over in pain. He used the previously injured foot, and instantly paid for it.
Moxley would hit the King Kong Lariat, and rained in the Hammer & Anvil elbow strikes. He’d go after the ankle of Punk, before nailing the Death Rider. Moxley was on fire, and would hit the Paradigm Shift This one was already over, and we have the Undisputed AEW World Champion!
Doctors would check out CM Punk, while Moxley celebrated. He’s officially the first two time AEW World Champion, a well deserved accolade after the summer he’s had. No more Interim on his name, Moxley is back on the top of AEW. CM Punk would be helped the back by staff, and he’d glare back at Moxley with a sad look in his eyes.
