Last night, AEW Dynamite would open up with a big promo segment between CM Punk & Jon Moxley – setting up a title unification match, currently set for next week’s episode of Dynamite. That part of the show made perfect sense to fans, with two men walking around with an AEW World Championship – a feud was brewing for months. However, Punk did go into business for himself – and called out former AEW World Champion, Hangman Page along the way.
CM Punk Called Out Hangman Page On AEW Dynamite Without Approval
During his promo, Punk would take a moment to call out Page for being disrespectful and call him to come to the ring, which was not planned. Page and AEW had no idea Punk was going to do this, so obviously Page would not hit the ring – allowing Punk to pull out a ‘that’s not Cowboy Shit, it’s coward shit’ line.
It’s been confirmed by a few news sources that this part of Punk’s promo was a shoot, with his intentions unknown. There’s been some reports of Punk already becoming disgruntled with AEW and its locker room, which if true – shows that not much has changed since his time back in WWE.
Trying To Get Page Back On TV?
However, there’s also a chance that Punk was using his freedom on the microphone to get Hangman Page back in the main event scene – handing AEW a path to a rematch between Page & Punk. Since losing the AEW World Championship, Page has fallen from TV – sparsely appearing in the ring over the summer, despite AEW needing stars with Punk & Danielson injured.
With AEW rushing the match between Moxley & Punk with All Out coming up soon has people assuming that Page will get involved with this match. A triple threat between Punk, Moxley & Page would be a massive main event for All Out – and Punk potentially just handed that idea to Tony Khan.
Right now, there’s a lot of conflicting reports about the situation with everything ranging from Punk walking out of AEW, to having legitimate beef with Hangman Page over Colt Cabana being mentioned during their feud.
