Over the past few months, Eddie Kingston has not been able to shake his feud with Chris Jericho & The Jericho Appreciation Society. Through singles matches, barbed wire everywhere, Blood & Guts & Anarchy in The Arena – they’ve just about done it all, and ended things with a 2-2 record. However, while it might have helped raise the stock of Kingston, he already doesn’t look back on these matches in a positive light.
Eddie Kingston Hated His Matches With Chris Jericho, But Learned To Avoid People Like Him
While speaking on the Under The Ring podcast, Kingston would give his opinions on his matches with the legendary Chris Jericho. Kingston would be quoted saying the following.
“I hated them all. I hated every single one of them because I don’t like any of my work, and I don’t like Chris.”
He’d go on to describe working with Jericho as ‘a headache’, but claimed he learned at least one thing from working with Le Champion.
“I learned what it was to be a snake backstage like Chris. I learned how to avoid people like Chris and his group. So, I did learn from him, but it was seven months of my life that I can’t have back.”
If Kingston Is Breathing, He’s Working
It’s crucial to note that with someone like Kingston, the lines of kayfabe are always incredibly blurred. Much like Jericho himself, Kingston is constantly in character – and it makes sense that he’d be burnt out after a seven month feud with Jericho, even with everything but the overbooked Barbed Wire match being damn near perfect.
The one part of this that could be honest is hating the matches, and everything else he’s done in the ring. Kingston is his own loudest critic, something that has been well documented in the past. He’s also someone who tends to put his all into his work, which is what makes his performances so incredible. Right now, many believe he could be the one to take the AEW World Championship off CM Punk, if Punk makes it as far as AEW Grand Slam in September.
