Jonathan Gresham is going to have to defend his ROH World Championship again very soon, but the question is who will he face. He wanted to give a title shot to the talented Lee Moriarty, but Tully Blanchard and his new faction would disagree. Instead, he thinks one of his clients should get the shot.
Tonight, Gresham & Moriarty will go against Kaun & Toa, also known as Gates of Agony. Kaun & Toa are one of the most physically imposing teams in the game today, and with the brains of Tully Blanchard guiding them? It’s hard to see them falling easily.
Jonathan Gresham Abandons Lee Moriarty
Gates of Agony would start things off rough, sending Gresham to the floor before going after Moriarty. Kaun hit a senton splash, before Toa nailed a hard back elbow smash. Toa would choke Moriarty on the ropes, before Kaun followed up with a powerslam for a two count. Some boots to the chest would land, before a pop up Samoan Drop for a two count.
A snap suplex would follow, and Moriarty was having issues kicking out at this point. Gates of Agony would drag him into the corner, and choke Moriarty out. The beating was getting relentless, and Gresham was desperate to complete the tag and save this match. Toa would take a forearm smash, but tossed Moriarty into the GoA corner.
Kaun made the tag, and Moriarty was kicked from the ring. A low bridge to Toa would follow, but Gresham refused the tag. He’d leave the match, and hug Tully Blanchard. Moriarty would take a lariat and elevated gutbuster for the finish.
Following this match, a beat up Eddie Kingston would challenge Chris Jericho to a barbed wire deathmatch. He is ready to drain all the blood from the body of Jericho, for Ruby Soho, Blackpool Combat Club, and Kingston himself.
Women’s Tag Team Remains Undefeated
ROH Women’s World Champion Mercedes Martinez had teamed up with Serena Deeb as of late, and this duo is something that anyone in AEW fears the prospect of facing. These two top level grapplers are able to tear down anyone, but they’ve shown cracks. Tonight, they will once again hit the ring, but Deeb might try to step up for a title shot if any blows are misplaced.
Kayla Sparks & Kristian Marie would be their opponents here tonight, and Deeb would quickly take Sparks down into an armbar. A lariat in the corner would follow, before some back elbow smashes.
Deeb would mouth off to Martinez, prompting Martinez to tag into the match. A running knee and boot to the face would follow, before a suplex onto the top rope. Serenity Lock would be applied, and it was over. Deeb would attack Martinez after the bell and applied the Sereinty Lock, and Martinez tapped out.
