Right now, despite fan pushback – the roster of All Elite Wrestling just continues to grow. Tony Khan has never slowed down on signing new names for his roster, taking chances on rising stars and indy veterans alike. The latest name to find a deal with Khan is Anthony Henry, who has been appearing on AEW programming for months now, in small roles.
Building The AEW & ROH Rosters At The Same Time
After putting in some good work on AEW shows, and especially on the most recent Ring of Honor event – Henry has been able to find a deal with Tony Khan. He’s going to be working both AEW & ROH events, but is likely to be more prominent in ROH. Alongside JD Drake, he’s working as a tag team frequently as The Workhorsemen, a team which has potential despite both being firmly used to squash matches in an AEW ring.
Other names who have found deals to work AEW & ROH include Samoa Joe, Blake Christian, and Josh Woods. Colt Cabana & The Briscoes are expected to remain ROH exclusively, which will hopefully see a debut of weekly TV following AEW’s All Out event later this year.
Anthony Henry Is Far From A Young Lion
Sadly, Anthony Henry is far from an easy sell for a big contract. He’s an experienced wrestler with twenty years of experience, having been active in the ring since he was just 18 years old. The definition of a journeyman worker, his skills are hard to deny – but in an industry as physically demanding as professional wrestling, 38 is far from young.
It helps that Henry doesn’t look a day over 25 and moves around fine in the ring – as seen in his recent match with Colt Cabana during ROH: Death Before Dishonor 2022. Alongside JD Drake, he’s got potential to rise the ranks of the AEW Tag Team division, and the ROH Tag Team division as well. It wouldn’t be hard to see them challenge FTR or Swerve In Our Glory for gold in the coming months.
