For the past four months, AEW fans have had a chance to fall in love with DDT’s Konosuke Takeshita. He’s given some of the best performances of the year with AEW, taking on some of their top stars – pushing the likes of Jon Moxley & Hangman Page to their limits on AEW Dynamite. However, this was a simple excursion – and has come to an end.
Konosuke Takeshita Thanks AEW Fans
Taking to Twitter earlier today, Konosuke Takeshita posted the following, signalling the end of his excursion in the United States.
“Today I am leaving America. I have so many great memories of the last 4 months. Thank you all for being so nice to me.”
Fans knew Takeshita would be returning to DDT soon, with one of their biggest shows coming up very soon. Takeshita has been able to improve as a professional wrestler, and will hopefully bring more eyes back to DDT for Peter Pan 2022. This show will air live through Wrestle Universe, a streaming service which brings Pro Wrestling NOAH & Tokyo Joshi Pro events as well.
It will be the fourteenth Wrestle Peter Man event in DDT history – and Takeshita is set to be in in a six man tag team match, teaming with Mao & Yasu Urano against Dick Togo, Daisuke Sasaki & Kanon. The main event of the event is currently Kazusada Higuchi defending the KO-D Openweight Championship against Tetsuya Endo.
You Can’t Steal The Top Names From Other Promotions If You Want To Keep Allies
Right now, Takeshita is under contract to DDT – but will likely be finding a joint deal between DDT & AEW as time goes on. He’s been proven to be a popular star for AEW, and there’s been interest in keeping him around fulltime. However, if AEW wants to keep partnerships with companies like DDT, TJPW and NJPW – they need to accept just bringing people over briefly.
Trying to steal the top stars from their partner promotions is a great way to end up with no major partners in the industry – which is the last thing Tony Khan needs. Takeshita will be back in AEW in time, perhaps showing up as a surprise open challenger for the TNT Championship down the line.
