That is according to royal expert Angela Levin. It is no surprise that Diana’s death had greatly impacted Harry. He had spoken about how he considered drugs and alcohol as a way to cope.
This was in relation to being pressured to portray a certain image that everything was fine, even though Harry was clearly suffering.
In his comments, he stated: “I was willing to drink, I was willing to take drugs, I was willing to try and do the things that made me feel less like I was feeling.”
So the fact that Meghan arrived on the scene gave Harry a calming presence that he needed in his life. While there was the initial disruption caused by the pair’s controversial Oprah Winfrey interview, they have managed to forge a life of independence with their Netflix and Spotify deals.
This is in addition to the fact that they have raised two children outside of the media intrusion that they were struggling to cope with. This may explain why Harry and Meghan are joint at the hip, as the ‘Duchess of Sussex’ is a positive female influence.
In her comments, Angela said: “One of the problems that I think is one of the causes is that Harry sees her as an alternative to his mother, and that she’s more like Diana than he could possibly have wished for.”
And yet, that comparison with Diana goes rather deep. It is alleged that Meghan wears the same fragrance that Diana used to do. According to Celebrity Fragrance Guide, Diana liked to wear Penhaligon’s Bluebell Cologne.
This bluebell is just what Meghan admitted to wearing prior to becoming a royal. Despite certain similarities, Angela does not understand why Harry would want to commit himself to someone like his mother.
Her following comments confirmed as much: “Now, this is a rather strange thing to want to marry somebody who’s very much like your mother.
