That is according to a poll conducted by the Democracy Institute. The findings of the poll indicated that a female Democrat would most likely be running against Donald Trump, who would make another run in 2024.
And as part of that process, Meghan was only behind Michelle Obama who came out on top with 41 percent of the vote, as the Duchess of Sussex got 19 percent.
While that may have been the case, it is claimed that Michelle does not have a desire to run for presidency. That would then leave Meghan with a clear run, but the poll findings suggest that Markle would be toppled by Trump.
And yet, Meghan does have some credibility by virtue of the fact that she is seen as an alternative to those who have already been in the political field. Thus, Markle provides an opportunity for something new.
Patrick Basham, who happens to be the director of the Democracy Institute, had this to say: “Megan Markle is a candidate Democratic voters can project their hopes and preferences on.
“Because yes she is a well-known figure but she is not a well-known political figure.” Nevertheless, Meghan’s intervention into US politics has not gone down well.
She was heavily criticised for her stance on paid parental leave after writing a letter to House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Markle was called out for meddling into US politics, as her royal title caused conflicts over her role in the states.
And yet, that vibrancy that Markle offers is something that the electorate could get behind. Patrick’s following comments confirmed as much: “Among Democrats she is young, female, attractive, bi-racial.
“She has a certain pizazz because of her celebrity status and all of that. She benefits from that being the fresh face and also by comparison with her would-be competitors.”
