Tom Lawlor was placed into the monster block of his first G1 Climax, and so far has been crushed by Lance Archer & JONAH. However tonight is a different type of beast for Lawlor to try and slay. Toru Yano is historically one of the hardest men to beat on a first try, with it being three years to the day when he ruined Jon Moxley’s debut tournament, and put him on a losing streak. Lawlor is already coming in with a 0-2 record, and can’t afford to spiral further tonight.
DVD Exchanging And Tight Pulling Kicks Off This Match
Despite having shown his violent past against Kazuchika Okada – Yano has since reverted back to being the sublime master thief. Someone like Lawlor however, could bring out the amateur wrestling roots of Yano. The match would start with a trade of DVD’s, with Lawlor getting the CHAOS camping trip DVD – while Yano got both Sister Act movies. The case Lawlor got was empty, and Yano would try to pull the hair of Lawlor – and got a bad wig instead.
This match would quickly get started with the hijinks out of the way, going right down to the mat. Yano would get back up, before Lawlor was thrown from the ring. Lawlor would get mocked for his jorts rip off entrance, with Yano wearing a second pair of tights. Yano was caught with his second tights around his ankles before taking some cravat trapped knee strikes, but an armbar would see Yano get both feet on the ropes.
He’d take off the second tights at ringside, and Lawlor revealed he had three pairs of trunks on tonight. On the floor, Royce Isaacs would get taped to the barricade in front of english commentary, where Lance Archer drilled him about his fashion choices. In the ring, Yano would try to use a corner pad as a weapon, but Isaacs got free to stop Lawlor from hitting the steel.
Tom Lawlor Was Prepared For the Low Blows
Lawlor would take the Belly to Belly Suplex from Yano, being chucked right across the ring. Yano took some jabs in the ring, before Lawlor would take the Manhattan Drop, and was thrown into the exposed steel of the corner. A roll up would nearly end things, before Yano would look for the powerbomb.
Lawlor slipped free and hit some leg kicks, before hitting the steel again and taking a low blow before a backslide. Yano would hit more low blows, but Lawlor wore a cup and hit the Nasty Knee on the Brain for the victory. He avoids the 0-3 start, but with Okada, Cobb, and Fale left? His path to the finals is not going to be easy.
