It’s a weird spot in this tournament when Yujiro Takahashi has more victories than former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Shingo Takagi. However, that’s just where we’re at tonight – with Shingo in a must win situation if he intends to make the finals. He’s facing down Takahashi tonight, who has relied on dirty tricks to have his most successful tournament in years, but might need more than that to take down The Dragon. Last year, Yujiro took Shingo out of the finals running with a double countout, and will look to repeat that tonight.
Yujiro Takahashi Attacks Before Shingo Disrobes
Yujiro would rush into the match with a boot to the face of Shingo, but was blocked. We’d see Shingo take his robe off and hit the shoulder tackle, before a lariat in the corner and a vertical suplex. Yujiro would roll to the outside, but Shingo would remain ontop of him – driving him into the ring apron and barricade.
Shingo would slam the face of Yujiro off the ring canvas, but would be caught with a chair to the midsection after Shingo lost grip of him. The referee took the chair away, before Yujiro would hit the drop toehold into the barricade before a Russian Leg Sweep on the floor. Back in the ring, Yujiro would mount and punch Shingo – before choking him in the corner.
Boot to the face would stun Shingo, but also started to fire The Dragon up. A suplex would be blocked by a bite to the hand, before Yujiro looked for the Fisherman Buster. Shingo would block the same way, before the Yukon Lariat dropped Yujiro to the mat.
Shingo Takagi Refuses To Lose Like It’s 2021
Noshigami would be blocked, before Shingo would shift into a snap suplex instead. SHO would hit the ringside area, a man who knows Shingo well – and this served as the distraction. He’d get a chance to grab the ankle of Shingo, allowing Takahashi to hit an Angle Slam. Miami Shine would follow, getting a two count.
Shingo would hit some forearm smashes to fire up, before taking a chair shot to the back from SHO on the floor and stumbling into the Pimp Juice DDT. Somehow, Shingo would be able to kick out – and spiked Yujiro with Made In Japan for a two count.
This match would spill the floor and SHingo was hit with a Fisherman Buster with time running out. Shingo hit a Death Valley Driver on the floor and got in the ring, with Yujiro saved by SHO. Yujiro would shove Shingo into the referee and hit the reverse DDT, and grab a steel chair. Shingo would lariat throught the chair, nail Pumping Bomber, and hit Last of the Dragon for the victory.
