Tomohiro Ishii was officially eliminated from the G1 Climax last night when Jay White moved to eight points, but that doesn’t mean he will stop fighting. Chase Owens is in the same boat, and tonight will simply look to prove he can beat someone on the level of Ishii. With nothing left to lose, these two will try to show they belong in the G1 Climax next year – and a win tonight would be huge for them.
Tomohiro Ishii Brings Out The Fight In Everyone
Ishii would lock up with Owens in the middle of the ring, and would shove Owens around before a forearm smash to the side of the head. Some heavy chops would follow, before Owens would go after the knee of Ishii after an ankle pick. With a limb in mind, he’d focus in – locking the leg up and raining down elbow strikes right onto the knee.
Ishii would get to his feet and batter Owens with some heavy elbow smashes, before absorbing a big boot and hitting the back drop. Owens would find his feet and hit the Bobby Eaton style neckbreaker, before driving Ishii to the floor and right into the barricade. A heavy chop would land, but Ishii went near the post – and ducked a chop.
Owens would nearly break his hand on the post, but was able to avoid a suplex and hit the Sunset Bomb into the barricade. Back in the ring, a one handed Owens would hit the knee strike for a one count. Jewel Heist was blocked, and the German Suplex would land. Stalling superplex would follow, Owens crashing down to the mat.
Chase Owens Shows Just What Competitor He Can Be
Elbow smashes would knock Owens silly, before a lariat would send Owens off the ropes – and he’d stumble into the C-Trigger, before Jewel Heist for a two count. A superkick would rock Ishii, but still was still not quite enough for the finish.
Ishii would headbutt Owens in the heart, causing a double down. Owens was driven down with a lariat and would kick out at one, before a second lariat got a two count. Owens got a two count off a crucifix pin before taking the sliding lariat.
Vertical drop brainbuster would be blocked into a backslide for a near fall, before Ishii blocked the package piledriver. Ishii would take a C-Trigger and the Package Piledriver – and Owens just stood and fought with Ishii, and walked away with the biggest win of his NJPW career.
