Queen Elizabeth II reportedly has her own branch of McDonalds in the UK.
Queen Elizabeth II Has Her Own Branch Of McDonalds But Prefers ‘Venison Burgers’
The fast food chain would be the last thing that you would expect a member of royalty to own, and yet, it seems that the monarch has quite a property portfolio.
It is claimed that she is in possession of buildings worth a reported £13 billion. This includes her royal residences, Trafalgar Square and many more. But it is the McDonalds branch that has gotten many people talking.
The location is at the Banbury Gateway Shopping Park near Oxfordshire. The public can eat inside, as well as having additional benefits. It has a drive-thru from 11am to 10pm.
While people are unlikely to see the monarch make a personal visit there, she does have a liking for certain fast food, even if it is not at McDonalds.
Darren O’Grady, who happened to be a chef for the Queen, previously said: “It always tickled me at Balmoral, we would make our own burgers.
“They would shoot deer, and we would do venison burgers. There’d be gorgeous cranberry stuffed into them, but we never set buns out.”
One member of the Royal family who did make visits to McDonalds was none other than Princess Diana. She had been known for treating Prince Harry and Prince William following their return home from boarding school.
Darren’s following comments confirmed as much: “I remember the princess came into the kitchen one day and said, ‘Cancel lunch for the boys, I’m taking them out, we’re going to McDonald’s.
“And I said, ‘Oh my God — your Royal Highness, I can do that, I can do burgers.’ And she said, ‘No, it’s the toy they want.'”
It is clearly something that has a connection to the royals, but whether we see royalty continuing to visit the chain is anyone’s guess. Time will tell if this approach does continue.
