It is usual to see young high school leavers take up jobs before proceeding to college. However, seeing someone of royal descent take up a minimum-wage job, working in a garden center, is quite unusual.
18-year-old Lady Louise Windsor, the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth, who studied AS-level English, history, politics, and drama at high school in Ascot, near their Bagshot Park home, has taken up a job at the garden center where she earns £6.63 per hour, or a little under $8/hour. She did this immediately after she completed her A-level exams in June.
Lady Louise Windsor Takes Minimum-Wage Job At A Garden After High School
Though the location of the garden is undisclosed, some of the garden’s customers who have seen her revealed her job descriptions include tilling, greeting customers, pruning, and potting several plants for several days each week. Citizens of England are shocked to see the Queen’s granddaughter working in a garden center.
A lot of people have expressed their shock and appraisal of the young royal blood. Ingrid Seward, the editor of Majesty magazine, said: ‘Isn’t it wonderful the Queen’s granddaughter rolled her sleeves up and got her hands dirty with a summer job before going to university — just like any other normal teenager.’?
In an interview with The Sun, one shopper said: ‘I knew the cost-of-living crisis was bad, but I didn’t think I’d ever see a grandchild of the Queen working in a garden center.’ Another customer added: ‘She is a really modest and sweet young woman who is polite and attentive to customers.
She seemed to be loving the job. You’d never imagine the Queen’s granddaughter would take on a role working behind a till.’ A customer who was served by the royal, further said: ‘I couldn’t believe it was Lady Louise, I had to look twice”. The question now is, being a Royal taking up such a job, is she also going to move around without an escort like other normal citizens?
However, the Queen’s subjects are not sure of her security arrangement as it has not been made public. From observations, her parents, Edward and Sophie, only receive police protection when on official duty. However, it is assumed she may not get any security escorts attached to her just like her parents.
Lady Louise was one of the students affected when the A-level exam was canceled last year. However, she was fortunate to secure a place even when the majority of British students were battling for a place at university. She confirmed her place at the University of St Andrews after receiving her A-level results and is set to read English at the Scottish institution, where Prince William and Kate Middleton met. She is not only humble but brilliant as well.
