Will Smith is reportedly in a good place following his 2022 slapgate Oscars saga.
Will Smith Is In A Better Mood Since Apologising To Chris Rock-‘A Huge Weight Has Definitely Lifted Off Of His Shoulders’
The actor caused mass outrage when he slapped comedian Chris Rock after he made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss. During the course of that process, Will did not apologise immediately which raised many eyebrows.
While an apology did follow several months later, Chris has yet to reach out in kind. And yet, the criticism has not stopped Will from continuing to plough ahead with his life.
A source said: “Will is in a really good place, as good as it can get at this stage. Ever since sharing his apology with the world, a huge weight has definitely lifted off of his shoulders.”
Even if the actor does feel a sense of relief, there are still major hurdles that he has to overcome. First of all, his acting career is still in the balance.
Directors will have to weigh up the cost of casting Will in their movies, while other actors will have to question whether they want to be associated with him. Secondly, the public may not welcome Will back.
After all, his popularity has plummeted while Chris’ popularity has only increased. And yet, Will is still in a buoyant mood. The source stated: “He’s hopeful for the future and that his life will turn around.”
The fans on social media felt it was time to put this scandal to bed. A certain subset of people were of the view that Will had been held to account. Now it was time to move on, especially since other actors had not been treated the same for their controversies.
One person wrote: “So the world really going to cancel Will Smith for one slap defending his wife but forgive and molly coddle #EzraMiller after he’s terrorised and smacked many people, including women.”
