Yesterday was the birthday of Carmelo Hayes, and there is only one way to celebrate. Hayes is known for being one of the greatest NXT North American Champions in the history of the brand – and tonight will put the belt on the line in an open challenge. Even when he doesn’t know who he will face, Hayes intends to shoot and not miss, like always.

Garmelo Hayes Remains NXT North American Champion… With Some Help

Giovanni Vinci would hit the ramp, but while posing for his entrance – Nathan Frazer would run past him and into the ring – beating Vinci to the punch. Hayes didn’t care either way – and would be able to weather the speedy storm of the Seth Rollins trained star. Frazer would pick up some insane speed off the ropes for a shotgun dropkick, before yanking Hayes into the ring post crotch first.

Hayes would catch Frazer coming back into the ring, and nailed the Fade Away leg drop to the neck for the two count. The pace would slow as Hayes hit some chops in the corner, before avoiding a springboard moonsault before the springboard lariat. Hayes would be driven face first into the corner off a flatliner – before the Thesz Press for some downward punches.

Frazier would miss the Phoenix Splash, before nailing a superkick for the two count. Hayes was sent to the floor and nailed with a dive – and would tumble into the announce table. Vinci was on commentary, and had his drink spilled. He’d respond by launching Frazier off the top rope as Trick Williams distracted the referee. Hayes would nail ‘Nothing But Net’ and remain NXT North American Champion.

Bron Breakker Promises To Work Through Any Plans JD Has In Mind

At NXT 2:0 Heatwave, we already know that reigning NXT Champion Bron Breakker would defend against former NXT UK star JD McDonough. JD McDonough has been laser focused on taking down Breakker since arriving on the brand – and will use his knowledge of the human body to break the young champion down.

Wade Barrett would host the championship summit – and say that JD McDonough made an uncomfortable debut. However, McDonough would say he’s very comfortable – even though he’s never quite faced someone in a WWE ring like Bron Breakker. Breakker is a rising star, and belongs on the cover of Muscle & Fitness – but McDonough just sees a road map to tearing down the human body.

Meanwhile, Breakker has been studying the NXT UK career of McDonough. He claims that McDonough is smart – knowing to not go after the strength or speed of Breakker. Breakker is an animal once that bell is on the line, and you’ll never beat him in a battle of brute force – just as GUNTHER. It’s good that McDonough likes pain, because he’s gonna have to welcome a ton of it.

McDonough would ask that the champion signs the contract first – before McDonaugh would sign with blood. Can Breakker remain champion at Heatwave? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
