Jade Cargill has had an iron grip on the TBS Championship, and has faced some tough challenges – but nothing like Athena. The former NXT Women’s Champion made her AEW debut with her eyes firmly on Cargill and the TBS Championship, and Cargill ran out of ways to duck the challenge. Tonight, we will see Athena really spread her wings and fly – as she goes one on one with Cargill on PPV, with the gold on the line. If she doesn’t win, she will simply be known as #37 – as Cargill could well go 37-0 here tonight.
Jade Cargill Does Go 37-0 As Athena Falls Flat
Athena would rush the champion as this match began with a kick, before the Meteora. O-Face would land, and The Baddies would pull Athena from the ring. Keira Hogan & Leyla Gray would be taken out by a pissed off Athena. Back in the ring, Cargill hit a pop up Samoan Drop, before a spear for a two count.
Athena would be thrown with the Biel Toss, before Cargill would take the springboard crossbody. The crowd would chant for Athena, who would be again disrupted by Hogan at ringside. Cargill would catch Athena in the sky with a pump kick and Jaded for the finish.
FTR & MCMG Bring Tag Team Greatness With Them To Chicago
When it was originally announced that the ROH, IWGP & AAA Tag Team Champions FTR were going to be in a trios match with Wardlow for All Out, fans were let down. This was due to it being against Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh & Sonjay Dutt… but that was a ruse. Lethal would reveal his true partners as Impact Wrestling legends, The Motor City Machine Guns – who make their AEW debut here tonight.
Wardlow would stand in the middle of the ring and dare Lethal to take a swing, and would toss him aside when he tried to grapple him. Lethal almost got the Figure Four – before Wardlow almost nailed the powerbomb and ended this match. Harwood & Chris Sabin hit the ring and would show their grappling prowess, with Sabin hitting a quick armdrag.
Harwood would hit some quick jabs to the face, before a heavy lariat knocked Sabin off his feet. Sonjay Dutt would dry the ire of Harwood and it nearly led to him being hit with the Cradle Shock. Alex Shelley helped to set up a cutter, before raking the eyes of Harwood in the ring. Harwood would hit a big backdrop, and would get Cash Wheeler in the ring. Wheeler would work to cut the ring in half, and Wardlow got the tag. He’d take down both members of MCMG, and Harwood would apply the Sharpshooter before almost taking the Lethal Injection. MCMG would gain control of the match, taking Harwood into the corner.
Wardlow Crushes Jay Lethal
Harwood would try and weather the storm, and would cause Sabin to kick Shelley in the face with some quick moving. Wheeler got the tag and nailed a big uppercut, before Wardlow would level Lethal with a lariat. Shelley hit the basement dropkick to set up the Figure Four Leg Lock from Lethal in the middle of the ring.
Wheeler broke free, but Shelley & Sabin kept the pressure on. A backbreaker onto the bad knee would follow, Wheeler making the mistake. Wardlow & Lethal got tags – allowing Wardlow to run down the opposing team. Satnam Singh would get a cheap shot in from the outside, before Wardlow was picked apart by some quick offence in the ring.
Lethal would hit the Hail to The King elbow drop, before FTR hit Shelley with Big Rig. The double Lethal Injection took FTR down, before Wardlow hit a Burning Lariat. He’d direct the Powerbomb Symphony, and after a series of powerbombs – Lethal was needing to be scrapped off the mat – this one was over. After the match, Samoa Joe would return – as Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh would try to get involved.
