Chris Jericho is now the ROH World Championship, after being able to take down Claudio Castagnoli last week. He didn’t win with much honour, using a low blow and the Judas Effect for the win. However, he will still defend the belt with pride, happy to once again be World Champion. Tonight, he will make that always important first defence – taking on former ROH World Champion Bandido. Bandido never got his rematch after losing the belt to Jonathan Gresham, and gets that shot tonight. Jericho has a lot on his mind after Daniel Garcia looked to split off from the Jericho Appreciation Society – but needs to focus on Bandido tonight.
Bandido Flaunts His Impressive Power
Bandido would be hyped as a fourth generation wrestler, and would get the first blow in after Chris Jericho would make a mockery of the Code of Honour. Jericho would be able to gain control for some chops, before Bandido would show his speed and send Jericho to the floor. Bandido would nail a suicide dive, and kept the pressure on with a second dive.
A brawl on the floor would favour Jericho, who would keep the control back into the ring as he isolated the arms of Bandido and hit some heavy forearm shots. Bandido would flaunt his impressive power with a one handed press slam to Jericho, but was only able to turn this into a two count. Bandido would hit a stalling vertical suplex, holding him for a full minute before finally dropping him – getting a standing ovation from the crowd.
Jericho would take a frog splash, but was able to kick out at two. He’d nail the flapjack to plant Bandido, before coming in with the boot to the face. Superplex would be blocked by Bandido, before he’d dive right into a Codebreaker for a near fall. Jericho would look for a German Suplex on the apron, before just punching Bandido in the nose… and being sent to the floor with a hurricanrana.
Chris Jericho Remains The Champion
Back in the ring, they would trade strikes on the mat – laying in some chops. Bandido brought his best and simply fired Jericho up. Bandido would miss a dropkick, before Jericho nailed the Lionsault for the two count. Crucifix Bomb would land, nearly making Bandido a two time ROH World Champion.
Jericho would apply the Walls Of Jericho in the center of the ring, and Bandido would make the long crawl to the ropes to get free. Bandido would set Jericho up on the top rope and was taken down with a moonsault slam – but a slow cover allowed Jericho to kick out. X-Knee would follow, and he’d look for the 21Plex, but even this wasn’t enough to keep Jericho down.
Jericho would get an eye poke and pulled the mask down, before Bandido grab a cradle pin for the two. Bandido would be taken into the Liontamer – and being unable to see where he was – had to tap out. He’d declare he will destory every ROH World Champion, and called for Danielson to fight him for the belt in Toronto – before nailing ROH ring announcer Bobby Cruise with the Judas Effect.
