Right now, Claudio Castagnoli is proudly waving the flag of Ring of Honor as the ROH World Champion. He’s been able to complete some successful defences against the likes of Dax Harwood & Dustin Rhodes – but will look to add to that legacy at AEW Grand Slam.
Chris Jericho Wants The ROH World Championship
He’d hit the ring alongside Wheeler Yuta for an interview with Sammy Guevara – and would state that the belt around his waist represents honor. Meanwhile, the Blackpool Combat Club is a signal of excellence – a team of men who make each other better. Yuta might have lost the ROH Pure Championship, but you learn the most in defeat.
Claudio would hype up the toughness of Dax Harwood, saying their match was one of the hardest of his career. Next week, Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley will clash over the AEW World Championship, and put two World Championships in the faction. At this, Chris Jericho would pipe in from commentary and said that he’s a seven time world champion – but is not be in the mix for the AEW World Championship after tapping out to Bryan Danielson.
Chris Jericho would hype up his history and said the one place he’s never been world champion is Ring of Honor. Seven isn’t enough, he wants eight. He wants the ROH World Championship, and Claudio accepted the challenge for AEW Grand Slam.
Penelope Ford Gets A Statement Victory
Penelope Ford & Willow Nightingale are two of the more underrated female workers in AEW right now – and are both eager to get a shot at either the TBS or AEW Women’s World Championship. Tonight, they meet in singles action – as Ford looks to redeem her recent loss to Toni Storm, and Nightingale looks to work her way to her first title shot in AEW.
Willow was able to block a hip toss into a quick pinfall, before looking for the O’Connor Roll. Ford would block using the ropes, before forcing the break and missing a lariat. Willow would nail a chop, before the sliding crossbody for a two count. Ford would catch Willow near the ropes with a dropkick, before a slingshot knee drop onto the apron.
On the floor, Willow would be shoved into the ring post, before a back handspring elbow into the corner in the ring – with Ford adding in a lick to the cheek. Willow would fight back with a neckbreaker, before missing the senton splash. Ford would put the pressure back on with a rear chinlock, but lost control.
Willow would hit the pump kick, before a spinebuster for the two count. Ford would bridge back to avoid a lariat, before popping up with a stunner. Diving dropkick would be avoided, and Willow nailed a pounce. Backslide would get a two count, before Ford would hit a facebuster and apply the Muta Lock for the victory.
Ethan Page Is Sick Of Jokes In AEW
Ethan Page is a member of The Firm – and Stokely Hathaway would make the goals of Page clear. He wants to claim the AEW All-Atlantic Championship, and wave the flag of Canada proudly. His alternate goal is to get rid of the jokers in AEW – kicking Luigi Primo in the face, and tonight looking to take down Danhausen in the ring.
Danhausen would get a massive reaction from the fans as he made his way into the ring, and he’d mock Page instead of cursing him. He’d try for a German Suplex, before being shrugged off and hit with the pump kick before some mounted punches. Danhausen hit a punch to the jaw, but was run down with a shoulder tackle before Ego’s Edge landed.
