This Sunday at All Out, we will truly see if Swerve In Our Glory deserve to call themselves the AEW World Tag Team Champions. They beat The Young Bucks to claim the belts, and defended against a very motivated Private Party – but when they offered a challenge to The Acclaimed, things got real.
Since arriving in AEW, The Acclaimed have had a chip on their shoulder – and previously came close to claiming the AEW World Tag Team Championships. They’ve evolved plenty since those early days, and have become one of the most well rounded tag teams in AEW. Tonight, we get the final words from both these teams ahead of Sunday – and things could get intense.
Swerve In Our Glory & The Acclaimed Speak Ahead Of Sunday
Billy Gunn would speak for The Acclaimed, saying that on Sunday? They will prove that Swerve In Our Glory is the #2 team in AEW. Caster & Bowens would claim they’re the best homegrown talents in AEW, and have the most wins in AEW tag team history. Swerve would say that it doesn’t matter where they come from, or how many wins they have – when the leg of Bowens will just give out if they win anyways.
Keith Lee would simply explain that the jokes and raps need to be left in the back come Sunday, unless they want to be crushed. Both the champions and challengers are fired up – which is a great way to ensure that they have a chance to steal the show on Sunday. It’s hard to not give the champions the edge on pure skill, but The Acclaimed simply have more tag team chemistry.
Ricky Starks Gets The Momentum Building Win Before All Out
Last week on AEW Rampage, we’d see that Ricky Starks was abducted and knocked out by QT Marshall & The Factory, as a favour to Powerhouse Hobbs. Now, just two days before Starks steps into the ring with his first tag team partner, he will take on the cunning QT Marshall in a tune up match. While this could ensure he’s got some momentum going into All Out, QT Marshall is the definition of a trap match, and can upset anyone on any given day, especially since he was taught the Diamond Cutter by DDP himself.
Before this match, Starks would lock The Factory in their locker room – forcing QT to stand on his own tonight. QT would try to free them, before this one exploded into a backstage brawl. Starks would be pulled to the ringside area, before QT was whipped into the barricade and nailed with some heavy strikes. They’d reach the ring, and QT would hit a dropkick to regain his footing.
Starks head would hit off the middle rope, leaving him rocked – before QT hit the quick elbow drops. Starks would be dropped with a back elbow smash, before QT hit the gamiguri. He’d run into the Belly to Belly Suplex, before Starks would hit the tornado DDT for a two count. The Factory would break free and hit the ring, trying to help QT out – before QT got a roll up with his feet on the ropes.
Starks would take The Factory out on the floor, before taking a low blow from QT. Diamond Cutter landed, but Starks kicked out. The spear and Roshambo would follow, and Starks gets the win. Hobbs hit the ring, and this show finished out with the big brawl.
