This coming Wednesday, we could potentially see one of the AEW’s biggest names accomplish a goal in the company. Jon Moxley & Bryan Danielson will meet in the main event of AEW Grand Slam over the vacant AEW World Championship. While Jon Moxley is a two time AEW World Champion – Danielson had two failed attempts at becoming champion against Hangman Page. However, winning that World Championship is high on his goals list.
Bryan Danielson Loves Wrestling Championship Matches The Most
While speaking with Sports Illustrated, Bryan Danielson would have a chance to get into his goals for AEW – and just what being the World Champion would mean to him. Danielson would be quoted saying the following.
“For me, it’s not about being the top guy. I don’t care about that. And it’s not about leading the locker room. You can be a leader without the title. I like the feeling of big championship matches. Championship matches are my favorite kind of matches to wrestle. It’s a different feeling from anything else.”
Danielson is a six time world champion, having won the Ring of Honor World Championship once, and five World Championships during his time in WWE. Claiming the AEW World Championship would be a great way to boost his status, and he’s more than ready to prove himself as a top star.
Speaking On The Backstage Fight At All Out
When asked about his thoughts about the recent backstage fight between CM Punk & The Elite. Danielson would have the following to say.
“Tony made a statement last week on Dynamite. I hate to say, ‘Oh, this is what happened,’ when I wasn’t in the room. I tend to focus on what I can control and focus on the opportunities that present themselves whenever there is any type of disruption—whether it is something like this or even something, for example, like the pandemic. Wrestling in front of nobody was a real opportunity to hone my craft. It became what William Regal likes to call ‘close-up magic.’ We didn’t have the crowd or anything like that, and I learned so much about myself and what worked from a wrestling standpoint. It was no longer theater. It became cinema. There were things you could do there that you couldn’t do in front of a live crowd. It was a lot of fun mentally to try to figure that out.”
