Chris Rock shaded Will Smith by claiming that the infamous slap-gate incident at the 2022 Oscars arrived on the back end of his nicest joke.
Chris Rock Shades Will Smith By Claiming The Slap Was Over ‘The Nicest Joke I Ever Told’
The comedian was humiliated in front of a global audience when Will decided to slap him in response to a joke he had made about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss.
While Chris has reportedly not reached out to Will following his apology, it seems that the comedian has not been shy in addressing the incident though.
This is despite the fact that the comedian admitted he turned down the opportunity to host the 2023 Oscars. When addressing the slap, this is what Chris had to say: “Did that s–t hurt? Godd–n right… the motherf—er hit me over a bulls–t joke, the nicest joke I ever told.”
With that being said, Chris stated how he went back to work the following day in the aftermath of the incident. This clearly demonstrated that he was not too fazed by it initially, as he did not have much time to process the incident.
Much in the same way, fellow comedian Dave Chappelle also had to deal with his own issues. He was infamously accosted by a member of the audience at ‘The Hollywood Bowl’ this year, with the defendant later being identified as Isaiah Lee.
The suspect ended up going on stage to approach Dave with what appeared to be a replica gun that included a knife blade. And all of this demonstrates that comedians can be left exposed. The fans on social media praised Chris’ actions during the incident and after.
One person wrote: “I feel like Mr. Rock showed immense composure and class when that happened, and that he should NEVER surrender to Will Smith’s career resuscitation.”
