Nate Diaz fans are glad that the last-minute switch of opponents at the UFC 279 happened, as Nate Diaz went from a major underdog to a favorite for his last match for the UFC promotion. Jake Paul, maybe most of all, cheered Diaz for his victory and saluted his ‘move’ of leaving the promotion by winning his last bout.
Jake Paul is eyeballing Nate Diaz as his possible future opponent for a very long time. Now, when Nate is free from the UFC, the boxing match between the two is a step closer. Nate Diaz also did not exclude transitioning into boxing from being an option after the end of his UFC contract.
Jake Paul Says Nate Diaz Is His Own Boss Now After Winning At UFC 279 – Predicts He Would Have Won Against Chimaev As Well
Nate Diaz showed great sportsmanship and great skills in the octagon with ‘minimum preparations’ as he confessed. He managed to outstrike Tony Ferguson in all four rounds and delivered a one-arm guillotine choke in the third minute of the fourth round.
“I want to get out of the UFC for a minute. I want to show all these UFC fighters how to take over and own up another sport. How you’re supposed to do it. Conor McGregor didn’t know how to do it and none of these other fighters know how to do it.” – Nate Diaz told Joe Rogan in the post-fight interview. “So I’m going to go out there, I’m going to take over another profession and become the best at that. All you mother f*****s out there trying to run other sports, boxing, kickboxing, jiu-jitsu… If you think you’re the top! Creme de la creme right here, I’m coming for you.”
Even though at the end of his post-fight interview, Nate vowed to eventually return to the UFC that does not seem like a plausible option, at least at the moment.
“And then after dominating other sports I’m going to be right back here to get a mother f*****g UFC title. The best title in the world.” – Nate promised.
Jake Paul watched the fight and did not back off from sharing his excitement on Twitter. He was tweeting during and after the fight applauding Diaz for his skills and for his performance. In addition, he praised Diaz’s determination to leave the UFC and pursue his dreams.
“This is how you leave an employer and become your own boss.” – Jake Paul tweeted with a photo of the moment when Nate submitted Ferguson.
Furthermore, Jake Paul predicted that Nate Diaz would win over Khamzat Chimaev as well. “Nate Diaz is a mutha****** legend and would have slapped the shit out of Khamzat.” – Jake wrote.
