A man was reportedly arrested after approaching the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Hall.
Man Arrested For Approaching The Coffin Of Queen Elizabeth II
As of now, mourners are allowed to queue up in order to get a glimpse of the coffin. But as part of that process, it is very time consuming indeed. Reports stress that mourners have been queuing from anywhere for up to 12 hours at a time.
With that being, it is not something for the faint-hearted with some even resorting to sleeping overnight in order to get a glimpse of the late monarch.
Although that may have been the case, one man was deemed to have bucked the trend by leaving the queue and approaching the coffin. The incident was alleged to have occurred on Friday, 16th September 2022.
It is not exactly clear if this was being done in order to vandalise the coffin in any way, or if this was merely an attempt to cut the queue. Regardless of what the case may have been, the man has been dealt with by the authorities.
In an official statement given on behalf of Scotland Yard, a representative said the following: “Officers from the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command detained a man in Westminster Hall following a disturbance.
“He was arrested for an offence under the Public Order Act and is currently in custody.” What the late monarch’s passing has shown is that not everybody is fond of the Royal Family.
A protester had also been apprehended by police when he heckled Prince Andrew as he walked along the procession. The protestor was alleged to have shouted at Andrew in relation to his scandal involving Jeffrey Epstein.
So even at a time when the country is in mourning, there are mass divisions which exist within society that could exacerbate following Queen Elizabeth’s passing.
And that cannot be a good thing going forward. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
