Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a bodyguard who has been convicted of domestic abuse.
Harry And Meghan’s Body Guard Has Prior Conviction After Allegedly Choking His Ex-Partner Unconscious
According to reports, the bodyguard in question is former Metropolitan Police firearms officer Pere Daobry.
During the Sussexes’ recent visit to the UK, which culminated in them attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, he happened to be with them near the car, as the couple attended the One Young World summit as shown in the picture here.
Pere has previously been convicted of assaulting his ex-lover, Sarah Jay. He had allegedly choked her until she became unconscious.
In another image, we can see Sarah with visible red marks around her neck which was most likely caused by the choking. While Pere allegedly called the emergency services once he realised that things were serious, it did not look good.
And given that Meghan is all about female empowerment, this appointment has not gone down very well.
A source confirmed the following: “When you consider how outspoken Meghan is on women’s issues it’s quite amazing that a bodyguard with that sort of background has been employed.”
Nevertheless, it is possible to argue that the Sussexes have done their own due diligence on the matter. As such, even with Pere’s prior track record, there may be enough to suggest that he has moved on since then.
That is not to say that his conduct was justified or excusable. And yet, the appointment still does not sit well.
The source’s following comments confirmed as much: “Pere treated Sarah appallingly and she had to escape through a window twice to get away from him.
“I really don’t think Harry and Meghan would want someone like him guarding them.” In reality, the Sussexes have hired Pere to do a job. And if he is competent enough to do it, then that is the most important thing.
