Uuf upstart Paddy Pimblett’s raise to fame has been a fast one. He skyrocketed to being one of the most popular UFC stars shortly after making his debut in the UFC. Now, once again, Paddy ‘The Baddy’ proves his skills on the mat – this time against 10 marine soldiers.
Paddy Pimblett has only three fights in the UFC until now. And he won all of them. He is coming off a dominant second-round win against Jordan Leavitt at the UFC Fight Night 208 where he performed his iconic ‘teabagging’ after the win. Paddy Pimblett won his last two fights via submission, suggesting that he is indeed good on the mat.
‘Badass’ Paddy Pimblett Submits 10 Marine Soldiers In A Row While Being 200lbs+
A video of Paddy that emerged online recently shows him taking on 10 marine soldiers in a row while they are trying to over-wrestle him and outpower him. In the video, the 27-year-old UFC raising star has about 40lbs more than he usually has when fighting in the octagon. However, that does not stop him from tapping all the marines out in a record time.
During the video, Paddy Pimblett showed a whole array of submissions that he has in his arsenal. Armbars, triangle chokes, guillotine chokes, and rear-naked chokes – were all put on display. On some occasions he even was generous enough to start the ‘session’ lying on his back, giving his opponent an edge over him. Despite this, the marines were not able to get a hold of the 200lbs Baddy.
Even though Paddy Pimblett is in the UFC for a short period of time, he has 19 professional fight wins under his belt. Before the UFC, he fought in the Cage Warriors Championship, as well as in the Full Contact Contender series. Most of his 19 wins are delivered via submission. That is an explanation enough of how he managed to over-wrestle the marines.
Paddy’s last bout was in July at home soil, in the United Kingdom. He beat Jordan Leavitt in the second round. Until now, the UFC hasn’t made any statement on that who will Paddy Pimblett fight next. However, one is sure – he has a bright future in the UFC promotion.
The UFC president Dana White has reflected on Paddy as someone who has an incredibly ‘similar vibe’ to Conor McGregor. And what this fundamentally means, is that he has the potential to attract a wide public to the UFC.
However, when speaking about becoming more than just a contender in the lightweight division of the UFC, we need to bear in mind that the lightweight division is packed with ‘killers’ such as Justin Gaethje, Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, and of course, the champion Charles Oliveira.
