Paddy Pimblett did it again. After his most recent fight against Levitt, the Liverpudlian has gained more than 40lbs, now weighing at around 200lbs. He gave this information proudly while attending UFC on ESPN 41 in San Diego.
“I’m about 200 (pounds).” – Pimblett confesses. “I don’t know (if it’s normal). You could say that, you could not say that. When I’m a little older and I start fighting ranked opponents, I will keep my weight down, but for now, I enjoy putting on a little chub rub on.”
Dana White Says Paddy Pimblett’s Eating Habits Hurt The UFC As Well – It Is Hard To Plan Fights
He adds that everyone is keen on fighting him in the octagon, but once there, they are amazed by his brute force and skills.
Although Paddy The Baddie has not missed weight until now, these rigorous weight changes over a short period of time might take their toll. According to UFC President Dana White, this is not affecting Paddy only. It affects the promotion as well.
“It’s not good for you.” – White says for MMA Junkie, on Tuesday. “We all know that. We know that fluctuating and cutting that much weight is very bad, and it definitely doesn’t prolong your career. It’s tough on your body and your organs and stuff like that, but listen: He’s a grown man. He can do whatever the hell he wants to do.”
Pimblett has a pretty successful career in the UFC until now. He doesn’t have any losses until now, and he just comes out of a second-round submission over Jordan Leavitt at the UFC London. This win gained him his third performance of the night bonus.
“It makes it tough for us too, because when we’re in the matchmaking room, we want to throw together a fight, maybe we can throw him on a card in a month, a month-and-a-half, it hurts us too,” Dana White says.
“We have to be very specific when we plan fights for him because he’s nowhere near close to weight, and what you don’t want to do is put that kind of pressure to cut that much weight in that short amount of time.” – he adds.
Paddy Pimblett has become one of the most popular UFC stars in the promotion. As such, people compare him to Conor McGregor. Even president Dana White told reporters that he sees the same vibe in him that Conor had.
Paddy Pimblett is eyeballing a return in the octagon for this upcoming December. Until now he hasn’t missed weight, we will see whether that will be the case this time as well.
