It’s time to see who gets the next shot at Bron Breakker and the NXT Championship, as two former challengers meet in tonight’s main event. Tyler Bate & JD McDonagh are no strangers to each other, having previously met in NXT UK – including at UK Takeovers. However tonight, they are battling in the United States for the first time.
Tyler Bate Gives His All
McDonagh would kick things off with a tight wristlock, before throwing Bate across the ring. He took the knee to the face, before Bate would nearly capture the pinfall. They’d trade pinfall attempts on the mat, before Bate would apply a tight headlock. He’d be able to kick McDonagh in the head while holding the headlock, before hitting a monkey flip and a dropkick.
McDonagh would be sent to the floor, but was able to break into the ring to block the dive from Bate. He’d plant Bate before hitting a moonsault for a two count. Boston Crab would be applied, but Bate was able to fight free. Devil-Inside suplex would be blocked, before McDonagh would head outside.
Back in the ring, Bate would hit the exploder suplex and the running shooting star press. Airplane Spin slam would follow, with McDonagh able to kick out. Bate would be hit with the moonsault on the floor, before a 450 Splash in the ring. McDonagh would only get two, before hitting the brainbuster.
JD McDonagh Gets The Win, Ilja Dragunov Is BACK!
Bate would hit a punch to the face but was unable to get the Tyler Driver. McDonagh would avoid the Boing and hit a Spanish Fly, before taking a straight punch to the jaw. Bate would head to the top rope, and almost hit a Super Tyler Driver ‘97 – but took a headbutt. Super Spanish Fly and a Devil Inside Suplex later – and this one was over.
However, while staring down Bron Breakker – another song would hit. Back from the injury that took the NXT UK Championship from him – Ilja Dragunov was in the building. He would hit the ring and join the staredown. He was the man who sent McDonagh packing from NXT UK – and Breakker is more than down to defend against both.
