Toni Storm has been working hard as AEW Interim Women’s World Champion, and will once again hit the ring for AEW Dynamite. Teaming with Hikaru Shida, Storm will face two very familiar foes in both Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter. Storm could end up in a title defence if unable to get the win here tonight, and even Shida could look for a title shot following this tag team match.
Hikaru Shida & Toni Storm Claim Tag Team Victory
Shida & Hayter would start this match, with Shida hitting the dropkick. Storm got the tag and hit some clubbing blows to the spine of Hayter, before a running thrust kick. Baker would assist in getting Hayter the upperhand, with a snap suplex getting a near fall. Storm would be bent around the ring post, before Hayter would choke her into the corner.
A stiff shoulder tackle would take Storm down, before Hayter would be taken down with a neckbreaker. Shida & Baker would be fired up hitting the ring, with Shida unloading forearm smashes before a jumping knee strike. Baker would be punched in the face before Hayter tried to make a save, only to be suplexed from the apron into the ring.
Katana Kick would be blocked by Baker, before Hayter hit a backbreaker. Storm would hit the bulldog before Baker hit the neckbreaker. Baker got the glove on for the Lockjaw, before Shida would try to fight off both Hayter & Baker. A double superkick, sliding lariat and curb stomp would get a two count – with Storm breaking the pinfall up.
Baker was spiked with the piledriver from Storm, but Hayter would break the pinfall up. Shida would be taken into the Lockjaw, but blocked into a pinfall for a two count. Baker would hit a Falcon Arrow, before pinning Baker after a trade of pinning attempts. Shida is someone who seems to always have the number of Baker – and tonight was no exception.
PAC Enters As Champion
PAC would prove his skills this past Friday when he made back to back title defences at AEW Rampage and Battle of the Belts. Both defences required some dirty tactics, including a bell hammer to the face of Trent to remain AEW All-Atlantic Champion. After that match, Orange Cassidy would get a measure of revenge by attacking PAC, and tonight has another chance to win the belt. Their last match also ended with a bell hammer to the face, and tonight – Cassidy is more motivated than ever before to become champion in AEW.
Orange Punch would be avoided as the bell rang, with PAC hitting a running dropkick. OC would have his hands put in pockets before PAC hit some mocking kicks, only to take a dropkick to the jaw. PAC would caught the dive on the floor right into a Falcon Arrow on the floor. OC would get drug up to the stage, and spiked with a Tombstone Piledriver.
He’d roll his way down to the ring, using the ramp to get some speed before avoiding the countout loss. PAC would apply the Brutalizer, but OC was able to get his foot on the bottom rope. The referee would stop PAC from getting the bell hammer, leading him into a suicide DDT. Another DDT in the ring would follow, before the Orange Punch got a near fall.
Orange Cassidy Wins His First AEW Gold
PAC would avoid a DDT on the apron, only to be hit with Beach Break. Back into the ring, PAC would be able to apply the Brutalizer, and OC would get free. PAC would go after the bell hammer, and was stopped by Danhausen and Bryce Remsburg.
He had a backup hammer under the ring but was punched in the jaw instead, before OC wanted to use it. He’d hand it over instead, and hit the Orange Punch. A second one would follow – and for the first time in AEW – ORANGE CASSIDY IS A CHAMPION!
