Lately we’ve seen a promising tag team form between the TNT & ROH World Television Champions. Wardlow & Samoa Joe as as daunting as a duo gets, and they’ve proved they can get on the same page during matches against teams like Josh Woods & Tony Nese. Tonight they’re in action once again, and that is bad news for their opponents QT Marshall & Nick Comoroto of The Factory.
WarJoe & FTR Have Unfinished Business With The Embassy
Marshall would insult the tag team name of WarJoe, saying it shows a lack of creativity – but this just led to a WarJoe taunt before Wardlow & Samoa Joe got huge reactions on their way to the ring. The Factory failed to get the jump on WarJoe, with Marshall dropped with a Manhattan Drop and a big boot before a running senton.
Joe would look for the Muscle Buster – only for Comoroto to make the save and be battered with chops. Wardlow would get the tag, and nailed a headbutt on Marshall before the wind up lariat. Comoroto would get the tag, and was tossed with the Belly to Belly Suplexes. The spinebuster would set up the Swanton Bomb from Wardlow, with Joe holding Comoroto in place before choking him out with the Rear Naked Choke.
The match was over, but the beating was not. Marshall would be fed in a powerbomb from Wardlow, and Toronto wanted more movements in the Powerbomb Symphony. The Embassy would interrupt – with Prince Nana being let down in them, sticking their nose where it doesn’t belong. Brian Cage would say that WarJoe also stuck their noses in their business after their match with FTR.
As if on cue, FTR would make their way out. WarJoe & FTR had the numbers advantage on The Embassy with Prince Nana a non-factor physically. Dax would say that they have a great idea for a partner for a triple threat match with The Embassy for Rampage. Wardlow & Joe just worked hard, and they have a perfect ten of an Ontario Native to team with them. Shawn Spears is back on TV, and without MJF at the helm – The Pinnacle seems to be back.
Swerve Strickland Dismantles Daddy Ass
When The Acclaimed would take the AEW World Tag Team Championships, Billy Gunn was a big help. He hit Swerve Strickland with the Fame Asser, allowing for Caster & Bowens to follow up and finish the match. Tonight, Swerve gets his chance at revenge – as he goes one on one with Daddy Ass on AEW Dynamite.
A loud ‘Oh Scissor Me Daddy’ chant would start as Billy Gunn took his shirt off and showed he’s still in peak physical shape. Swerve was put in a headlock, but would shove his way free before a shoulder tackle. Gunn would run the ropes and jump over Swerve before another big running strike. Swerve would go to the apron and slingshot in for a dropkick to the quad.
Gunn would be grounded and put in a headlock with extra pressure on the leg, but Swerve couldn’t keep him down. A jumping stomp to the knee put Gunn back down, before Swerve kept the pressure on before taking a punch to the face. Gunn would almost get a suplex, before being shoved out to the floor. Swerve hit a slingshot knee drop to the hurt leg of Gunn, laser focused on the limb.
Mark Sterling Trademarks “Scissor Me”
Gunn would hit a tilt-a-whirl slam in the ring to get a second to recover, but couldn’t follow up right away. Swerve took two lariats and a jackhammer, before Gunn would look for the Fame Asser but was countered and took a kneebreaker in the corner. Rolling flatliner and Swerve Stomp – with Gunn able to kick out at two.
House Call Kick was blocked and Gunn tried to hit the One & Only. Swerve blocked into a roll up, and used the bottom rope for leverage with the pinfall – stealing the victory. The Acclaimed would check on Daddy Ass, but he’d get back to his feet. They were ready to scissor, but Mark Sterling would stop them – saying they bought the trademark to the phrase “Scissor Me” in professional wrestling.
No more hand signal, no more saying it, and the money from t-shirt sales goes to Sterling. If they do it – The Acclaimed will be stuck in the court system and have to vacate the belts. Sterling is able to work with them though, but not today. Instead, he’d Scissor with Daddy Nese – to a lukewarm crowd reaction.
