Over the past year, the AEW roster has entered a bit of a state of chaos. The honeymoon period of AEW is over, and we’ve seen backstage fights and people demanding their releases. However, Tony Khan has had someone step up to try and bring order the situation in the locker room, and it’s industry veteran Chris Jericho.
Chris Jericho Is The Locker Room Leader AEW Needed
Over the past few months, Chris Jericho has been one of the spotlight names on AEW programming once again, going through yet another career resurgence. During an interview on the My Mom’s Basement podcast, AEW owner Tony Khan would have a chance to speak about how Chris Jericho has stepped up not only in the ring – but backstage as well.
“He’s also stepped up his game backstage, trying to help other people with their interviews and then if he sees somebody that needs help, he’ll go and try to help them. I think that’s really cool. For a lot of people either in the ring, or backstage, that mentorship from Chris, you can’t put a price tag on that.
He’s really given back to the wrestling business in so many ways. What he also does is gives to the fans because some of my favorite stuff in the last few decades involves Chris and a lot of it is here. He’s just having a great year.”
AEW Is Jericho Since Day One
Jericho was one of the biggest names in AEW since day one, and has more experience in the industry than just about the entire roster. The only name active in the ring with more experience than Jericho is Sting, who has never been noted doing much in a backstage role in AEW.
Jericho is likely to remain a featured star in AEW for years to come, and is currently the ROH World Champion. Alongside Sammy Guevara, he’ll be facing Bryan Danielson & Daniel Garcia in a tag team match during the AEW Dynamite 3rd anniversary show tomorrow evening.
