The Firm heard Private Party wanting to get clear from the Andrade Family Office – and took it upon themselves to buy their contracts. Matt Hardy & Private Party were less than impressed with this outcome, as this is not freedom – it’s just another faction looking to use Private Party as cannon fodder. Tonight, Isiah Kassidy will battle Ethan Page, and a victory frees Private Party. A loss however? That will ensure that Private Party stays put, and Matt Hardy also joins The Firm.
Matt Hardy Gets Forced Into The Firm
As the bell rang, Page would hit the pump kick to the face – and would follow up with a back elbow smash. The press slam would launch Kassidy across the ring, before Page took a chance to mock Matt Hardy. Kassidy would get an inside cradle for a two count, before a moonsault press into a satellite DDT.
Page was sent to the floor and would be hit with the Tornillo – but was able to recover in the ring. Egos Edge would land, and Page wins. Matt Hardy is now under the thumb of The Firm & Stokely Hathaway, and Private Party will not be getting their release at this time.
The Pinnacle Are Always Ready For A Fight
FTR were able to successfully defend the ROH World Tag Team Championships against Gates of Agony last Friday – but would be attacked after the bell. Brian Cage got in on the fun, before Wardlow & Samoa Joe would even the odds. However tonight, as FTR face down Gates of Agony & Cage – it’s not Wardlow or Joe in their corner. Instead, The Pinnacle once again rides together, as Shawn Spears returns to the ring for AEW for this big time trios clash.
Spears would kick things off with Cage, being driven into the corner – with Cage quickly tagging out into Kaun. Kaun would be forced into the corner for ten downward punches to the face. Liona & Cage would lure Spears to the floor with a crossbody, and Wheeler would ensure Liona & Cage fell.
Spears would end up getting a spinebuster right onto the ring apron. The Embassy would isolate Spears in their corner – taking advantage of potential ring rust. Spears has not wrestled in three months, and while he remains in shape – you can’t replicate getting ring time. Spears would be hit with a backbreaker on the top rope, before a running senton on the apron.
Cage would take Spears from the apron to the ring with a deadlift superplex, before looking to the F5 and taking a DDT. Kaun would get the tag and cut the ring in half, once again looking to keep FTR from the ring, but Harwood got the tag all the same. Dax The Axe would cut down Gates of Agony – nailing a AA Spinebuster on Kaun.
They Might Be The Pinnacle, But They’re Not The Kingdom
FTR applied double sharpshooters – with Spears getting one on Prince Nana. Triple Sharpshooter in Canada is one way to get a cheap pop, but fans were upset when Liona broke things up. On the floor, Liona would miss a pounce and found the steel steps. Cage would take a DDT on the floor, before Spears hit the C4 in the middle of the ring for the victory. The Pinnacle are back, and without MJF causing rifts in their friendship? They’re potentially set to be a top faction.
After the bell, Maria Kannellis Bennet, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett would make their AEW debuts. FTR call themselves top guys, but they never wrestled The Kingdom. AEW was built on the back of the accomplishments of The Kingdom – and they’re here to get the respect they earned.
The Kingdom would help The Embassy in a five on three battle against The Pinnacle – but WarJoe was close behind to even the odds. There’s a massive ten man tag team match incoming, and a lot of gold potentially on the line.
