Layton Maxwell is a drug trafficker who received eight years for his involvement with cocaine. It has been revealed that Maxwell was a player for Liverpool F.C. He made his debut in 1999 at 19-years-old and scored his first career goal in that match.
Before Drug Trafficking Layton Maxwell Played Professional Football as a Liverpool Midfielder
Maxwell wouldn’t see first team action again with Liverpool and was dropped in 2001. He would play for Cardiff City from 2001 until 2004, Swansea City and Carmarthen Town later in 2004, and finished in the English Football League with Mansfield Town in 2005.
The future drug trafficker would play in the Welsh professional ranks, ending his career in 2010 with Barry Town. Some years later, Maxwell would manage the Cardiff Draconians until 2020. It would be within this time that he was involved in the coke trade.
His involvement included housing drugs at his Cardiff residence and was paid £500 per month in a “courier” role or as a clean middleman. After getting busted in a National Crime Agency investigation known internally as Operation Venetic, he was nabbed in 2020.
Authorities seized over 60 kilograms of coke, crack, and heroin as well as £2.5 million. The estimated street value of the drugs came out to over £6 million.
