As we enter the final two months of 2022, people are starting to reflect back on the crazy year that this has been for the professional wrestling industry. From Cody Rhodes leaving AEW to return to WWE, the retirement of Vince McMahon, and the death of Antonio Inoki – there has been many huge stories that rattled and shocked fans. However, when all is said and done – there’s one story that will live in infamy from this year, and that was the actions of CM Punk following the conclusion of All Out 2022.
Chris Jericho Told CM Punk That He Was A Cancer To The Locker Room Following All Out
He won the AEW World Championship, got injured in the process – and decided to call out the EVP’s of the company – leading to a locker room brawl with Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks. This already led to a close friend of Punk in Ace Steel getting released from the company, and mass suspensions – with The Elite only appearing again in a video package on the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite.
One man who would be quick to call out Punk was Chris Jericho. Having worked with Punk in the past during their runs together in WWE, Jericho was well aware of the potential issues that Punk would bring to the company. Jericho was on hand for the same media scrum, and following the locker room brawl – would have some choice words for Punk. A report from Fightful Select would note that Jericho said Punk was “a cancer to the locker room and a detriment to the company.”
Tony Khan Has Leaned On Jericho Following All Out
Since All Out, Tony Khan has begun to rely heavily on talent he could trust – which included Chris Jericho & Jon Moxley, who have been wrestling near weekly since All Out 2022. Jericho would win the Ring of Honor Championship at AEW Grand Slam, while MOxley would regain the AEW World Championship at the same event – defeating Bryan Danielson in the finals of a tournament to crown a new champion.
Moxley will defend the belt against MJF in the main event of Full Gear, while Jericho will defend the ROH World Championship on AEW Dynamite against a mystery former ROH champion.
