Human Rights Warriors Harry And Meghan Set To Receive The ‘Ripple of Hope Award’ From The Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Organisation-‘They’re Amazing Human Beings’
According to reports, the event is set to be held in New York City on Tuesday, 6th December 2022. During the course of that process, several other high-profile people will be recognised, including Frank Baker, Brian Moynihan, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Sussexes will follow in the esteemed company of other winners, such as Desmond Tutu. And this is all in an effort to recognise their social justice efforts through the Archewell Foundation.
Kerry Kennedy, who happens to be the president of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization, had this to say: “The couple has always stood out for their willingness to speak up and change the narrative on racial justice and mental health around the world.
“They embody the type of moral courage that my father once called the ‘one essential.” This naturally begs the question: what efforts were the Sussexes being recognised for?
Well, the couple have been very vocal about supporting Afghan refugees. This was most recently seen following the take over by the Taliban, where the couple responded with an official statement.
In addition, this was also followed up by a donation to a female Afghan women’s organisation. Not only that, Meghan has been very clear on her support for paid parental leave.
This resulted in her writing a letter to House of Representatives speaker Nancy Pelosi in order to make that happen. The fans on social media had a mixed response.
While a certain subset questioned the award, others felt that the couple deserved a lucky break. One person wrote: “I don’t get why brits hate them so much. I think they’re amazing human beings. And their kids are adorable.”
This award may be ceremonial, but for the supporters of the Sussexes, it is validation for their work. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
