King Charles III had a delightful response following the birth of Princess Charlotte.
King Charles III Shades Harry And Meghan’s Kids After Claiming Princess Charlotte Will ‘Look After’ Him When He Is Old
The monarch currently has five grandchildren: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Archie and Lilibet. While he does not see Archie and Lilibet as much as he may want to as the Sussexes live overseas, he has plenty of things to keep him occupied at home.
It is claimed that Charles was hoping that Prince William and Kate Middleton had a girl, so when the news of that was confirmed, he was over the moon to say the least.
In his comments at the time, he was alleged to have told reporters the following: “I was hoping for a girl!” Those comments were quite telling for the following reasons.
First of all, Charles could have developed a similar bond with Lilibet had Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remained in the UK. And now that we know this is no longer the case, it ultimately showed what could have been.
Not only that, but this may have provided an opportunity for Harry and his father to reconcile. In addition it also has an inadvertent dig at Harry and Meghan’s kids.
This is particularly in light of the following comments, as they do suggest an element of favouritism by Charles. He added: “I was hoping for a grand-daughter – someone to look after me when I am very old.”
The fans on social media had a lot to say about the matter. A certain subset of people felt that Charles was not doing enough to show that he cared for his grandchildren in an equal manner. And by the looks of it, the comments were harsh indeed.
One person wrote: “The Duchess of Sussex was being abused, bullied and tormented throughout her pregnancy while the royal family sat there, watched including King Charles III who literally even abandoned his son and grandkids.”
So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
