The career of Matt Hardy is one that can best be described as legendary. Starting in the 90’s as a tag team wrestler alongside his brother Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy has been a fixture of the industry – working in WWE, Impact Wrestling, Ring of Honor, and is currently under contract with AEW. However, years of insane bumps and stunts have done their damage, and Hardy is realistic about the remaining length of his in-ring career. Before he calls it quits though, he wants two certain matches against top names in the company.
Matt Hardy Wants To Work With Both MJF & Kenny Omega
During the latest “The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy” podcast, Hardy would name Kenny Omega & MJF as the main two matches he wants to have during this last run in his career. Hardy has previously worked alongside Omega following his AEW debut, when he was aligned with The Elite. This led to Hardy being involved in the first ever Stadium Stampede match, and an infamous Falls Count Anywhere match where Sammy Guevara was hit with a golf cart.
Right now, Hardy is also set to work alongside MJF in a form. A recent wager on a match between Ethan Page & Isiah Kassidy has put Hardy as a member of new AEW faction The Firm. Led by Stokely Hathaway, The Firm made their debut at All Our 2022 – helping MJF win the Casino Ladder Match. They’re hired guns by MJF, helping him when needed – which could be used to plant seeds for an MJF vs. Matt Hardy match if needed.
Hardy has shared the ring with MJF twice, being involved in both the 2020 & 2021 Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royales. MJF would be in the final two of both matches, and won the ensuing singles match to claim the ring both years. Right now, MJF is set to main event Full Gear 2022 against Jon Moxley – and is a favorite to win and become AEW World Champion. Kenny Omega is suspended following a locker room brawl after All Out 2022.
