Meghan Markle has revealed that she is not entirely satisfied with the direction of her docuseries.
Meghan Markle Hints She In Unhappy With Her Netflix Docuseries
The Duchess of Sussex and her husband Prince Harry’s docuseries hopes to give fans an insight into the intimate parts of their lives that people may not necessarily see. And as part of that process, they have appointed none other than director Liz Garbus.
She does have a huge amount of credibility and success after having been nominated for two Oscars for the ‘Best Documentary Feature’ in 1999 (The Farm: Angola, USA) and 2016, (What Happened, Miss Simone?)
While that may be the case, Meghan did admit that she had some reservations over allowing someone else to tell her story.
In an interview with Variety, she said: “It’s nice to be able to trust someone with our story…even if it means it may not be the way we would have told it.
“But that’s not why we’re telling it. We’re trusting our story to someone else, and that means it will go through their lens.”
Nevertheless, there are obvious advantages in allowing someone else to have an input. First of all, it does do a lot when it comes to the actual branding of the docuseries.
Having someone that has been nominated for an Oscar award on board will potentially showcase the docuseries to a bigger audience.
Secondly, it also allows another person to give an objective view on the docuseries and avoid putting anything in there that could prove problematic.
This is something that Meghan is fully aware of, as shown by her controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey and The Cut. The fans on social media, however, were not convinced by this disclosure.
A certain subset felt that Megan would not put out a project that she was not fully behind. One person wrote: “Stop lying.” Time will tell how the docuseries plays out.
